National Grid needed to transform how it understood reputation, regulation, and public trust. Across the U.K. and U.S., data lived in silos across media analytics, customer feedback, climate policy, and market research. Insight was slow, fragmented, and reactive.

To solve this, Dreamway Media was brought in to lead the creation of the Unified Intelligence Hub, a system that connects data, automation, and human decision-making.

The Challenge: From Fragmentation to Clarity

As a global utility, National Grid’s decisions affect millions of people and the environment. The company needed a unified intelligence system that could combine data from regulatory bodies, sentiment tools, customer surveys, and climate initiatives while maintaining governance and accessibility.

 

The system also needed to track U.K. parliamentary rulings, U.S. legislative actions, and climate regulations, giving leadership a complete, real-time view of external factors shaping reputation and compliance.

 

The goal was not just visibility. It was intelligence, a living system that could turn complexity into clarity and guide informed, empathetic decisions.

The Vision: Building an Adaptive Intelligence System

National Grid brought in Dreamway Media for their expertise in Generative and Agentic AI, automation, UX, and multi-source intelligence systems. Their task was to design and deliver a Proof of Concept that proved how the company’s vast data ecosystem could evolve into a connected intelligence network.

Working across Corporate Affairs, Communications, Customer Service, Marketing, Research and Development, Public Relations, Corporate Investing, and the company’s venture capital arm, a data science platform and framework were constructed to establish collaboration across departments.

The Proof of Concept was completed in under 90 days. The long-term roadmap included automation pipelines, GPT-based summarization, and custom APIs capable of handling up to 30 data sources.

Unified more than 30 initial data sources within a scalable framework that can support 90 or more. Custom APIs and automation pipelines allowed data to move seamlessly between teams, replacing silos with synchronization.

The system surfaced multidimensional insights across customer sentiment, media coverage, and philanthropic initiatives. Leadership could evaluate business and social impact in real time with AI-assisted summaries.

Digital Product Strategy & Transformation

A phased roadmap positioned AI as a core organizational capability. It established governance, automation integration, and a path to scale agentic capabilities for predictive and autonomous decision-making.

Generative Experience Design (GXD)

Designed as an experience, not a static dashboard. Clear visual hierarchy and AI-generated summaries helped teams explore information intuitively and act on insights immediately.
